Healthy Living

We know that all parents want their children to grow up to be healthy and strong and we try to support families with this aim through our healthy living policy.

Government advice is that children under 5 should have at least 3 hours of physical activity every day.  For this reason, at Nursery School, we minimise time spent sitting down and encourage all our children to spend time outdoors, whatever the weather.  Having lots of opportunity for functional movement through play helps children develop the large muscle groups they need to be ready for school.

We support the development of a healthy diet by providing vegetables, fruit, milk and water at our snack table.  Parents whose children stay for lunch club are encouraged to provide a balanced packed lunch that meets the child’s high energy and nutrient needs.
