Victoria Park Nursery School has been in central Newbury since 1941 and we have been at our current purpose-built site for almost 30 years. We are one of about 400 maintained nursery schools in England – schools that have been called by successive Governments “the jewel in the crown” of early years education. We are constituted as a school, with teachers, a headteacher and a board of governors – but we specialise in early years education.
At Victoria Park, all the staff are passionate about maintaining the unique characteristics of early years education. We aim to develop the children’s positive attitudes towards learning by providing a child-led environment where children follow their interests, skilfully supported and challenged by adults. Our focus is on the “prime” areas of learning – communication and language, physical skills, and social and emotional development. The prime areas provide a solid foundation for all other learning as our children move to primary school at the age of 5.
We look forward to showing you round and welcoming your child to Victoria Park.
